99 percent pure water ice found on Mars

Washington, September 25 (ANI): NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has revealed sub-surface water ice that may be 99 percent pure, halfway between the North Pole and the equator on the Red Planet.

“We knew there was ice below the surface at high latitudes of Mars, but we find that it extends far closer to the equator than you would think, based on Mars’ climate today,” said Shane Byrne of the University of Arizona, a member of the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment, or HiRISE, which runs the high-resolution camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

“The other surprising discovery is that ice exposed at the bottom of these meteorite impact craters is so pure,” Byrne said.

“The thinking before was that ice accumulates below the surface between soil grains, so there would be a 50-50 mix of dirt and ice. We were able to figure out, given how long it took that ice to fade from view, that the mixture is about one percent dirt and 99 percent ice,” he added.

Scientists used several instruments on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, or MRO, in quick succession in detecting and confirming highly pure, bright ice exposed in new craters, ranging from 1.5 feet to 8 feet deep, at five different Martian sites.

In August 2008, the orbiter’s Context camera team examined their images for any dark spots or other changes that weren’t visible in earlier images of the same area. Meteorites usually leave dark marks when they crash into dust-covered Mars terrain.

The HiRISE team, which bases its operations at the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, followed up in September 2008 by taking high-resolution images of the dark spots.

“We saw something very unusual when we followed up on the first of these impact craters, and that was this bright blue material poking up from the bottom of the crater. It looked a lot like water ice. And sure enough, when we started monitoring this material, it faded away like you’d expect water ice to fade, because water ice is unstable on Mars’ surface and turns directly into water vapor in the atmosphere,” Byrne said.

A few days later that September, the orbiter’s “CRISM” team used their Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars and got the spectral signature of water ice exposed in one of the impact craters, further clinching the discovery.

How far water ice extends toward the equator depends largely on how much water has been available in the Martian atmosphere in the recent past.

“The ice is a relic of a more humid climate not very long ago, perhaps just several thousand years ago,” Byrne said. (ANI)

here is footage of the Apollo 11 crew faking part of
their alleged mission to the Moon back
    in 1969… Enjoy!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xUGRngAhBI

the money shot of the fakes is between 7:00 and the
    end of the clip.

we can only go 300-400 miles into space in manned
    exploration CURRENTLY!
How are we supposed to believe that we could
have sent men 239,000 miles to the Moon and back 40 years
ago, and with less technology than a ‘Gameboy?’(What
technology was 60000% better 40 years ago than
currently?) Doesn’t that strike you as illogical?
18 astronauts allegedly go to the Moon, none see a
    single star?

    Another
gem, this is footage from the Apollo 11 post flight press conference!
These guys just allegedly survived a trip to another world and back!
Instead of looking ecstatic, they just look like glum liars who have to go on with
    the act…

here’s the Apollo 11 crew, neil armstrong, michael collins and buzz aldrin cowering when confronted with the faked footage…

Also, here is a link to an audio interview with the director, bart sibrel, which gives more details on these frauds:
    http://www.erichufschmid.net/Interview-with-Bart-Sibrel-14Sep2006.mp3
I got this info from http://www.moonmovie.com.

btw, this is Phil Plait, the guy paid by NASA to ‘debunk’ moon landing hoax material. He won’t physically look at the faked footage from
Apollo 11! He seems like an overgrown kid with his hands over his ears.

    Some Unanswered questions:

Why would they be faking anything if they really did go to the Moon? They’d have tons of real mementos.
    What
legitimate part of Apollo 11 called for them to stick something in the
window to make the Earth look smaller and farther away than it really
    was?
What technology was 60000% better in 1969 than currently? Asbestos? Angie Dickinson?

finally, here are some of the people responsible:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344160/

The above is a link to a page at Imdb.com for a 2002 French TV show called Operation Lune or ‘Dark Side of the Moon.’ It was billed as a ‘Mockumentary’
like that Spinal Tap movie which I haven’t seen. The premise was that
We really did go to the Moon on the Apollo missions, but the film got
ruined so they had to fake the landings. (The film got ruined 7 times
on the Apollo 11-17 missions I guess, without them doing anything?)

However, when you see that other footage of the Apollo 11 crew at the
window faking part of their mission and factor in that they used 99%
the same technology from Apollo 11 -17 you see it was all a big hoax.
Then you can follow the evidence backwards to these people who appeared
in this French movie as suspects in the Apollo frauds. These people
all went out of their way to endorse the bogus Moon Landings…maybe
they wanted to be on record for all time as people involved in the scam
since they were old and dying off from old age anyway?

Take a look at the cast list in this thing:

Stanley Kubrick, Richard Nixon, Don Rumsfeld, Henry Kissinger, Al Haig, Buzz Aldrin, etc

that’s pretty big for some crappy French TV show that few if any Americans saw

What I’d like to know is, out of how many attempts? Five out of a hundred? Or five out of five? Over what total area? Fifty yards? A hundred? Ten miles? If five out of five, “halfway between the North Pole and the equator” spread out over miles, or even football fields, water in fact may not only be present, but abundant. Water ice was found between 1.5 and 8 feet “deep,” but they don’t mention how “thick” the water ice deposit might have been. No doubt, because they don’t know. In other words, NASA is telling us that 1) they found virtually pure water, of unknown volume, in a “temperate” zone, and 2), in the relatively recent past (“several” thousand years, let’s call it three to be generous) = c. 991BCE “Earth” time), Mars had a “more humid” climate. This is a RADICALLY different view of Mars than we’re accustomed to. Mars is no longer the “long dead” desert planet we’ve been told all our lives, but an eerily earthlike planet recovering from a recent (sudden?) climatic catastrophe, within — get this — the living memory of human civilization. If true, is there any reason to think that the planet-killer event was limited and “localized” only to Mars, and that Earth and the other planets of the solar system escaped its effects? Naturally, the Earth science theory of “catastrophism” comes to mind, with evidence, geologically and culturally, scattered (literally) from one end of our planet to the other. Other than that, all I can say is…wow.

NASA just cracks me up! How can they be so sure about water on Mars? When we cant even be sure if there is water on the MOON! NASA earlier this month claimed to have crashed a rocket probe into the Moon to see if there is water. Rather extreem iI thought. They are still not sure of the result! SO how can they be so sure about water on MARS? Me thinks that NASA is a great disinfo group that knows MUCH more than they let on to the general public and I take anything they state with a big grain of salt.

Something really doesn’t ad up with this picture.

As an after thought. I tend to thinl that if there is water there must be an atmosphere. Water BOILS in a vacuum… Just an afterthought.

If water was found, then Mars must have an atmosphere (we know there’s weather on Mars). I agree that NASA has proven untrustworthy (understatement) in the past, which makes this announcement that much more ‘curiouser.’

As a taxpayer who helped fund Mars exploration, I think it would be best, at this point, for them to just tell the citizens the truth. I think most of us know they have been lying about Mars (and the Moon).

I have been reading James McCanney’s books. Excellent.
