DHL to provide security at Bangalore airport cargo section
Bangalore, Nov 21 (IANS) Logistics firm DHL has signed a security partnership with Air India-Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS), the cargo terminal operator at the Bangalore international airport, to provide security to its freight customers, the company said Saturday.
‘The partnership aims to develop standard operating procedures to meet customers’ security requirements for high-value and high-risk air cargo,’ DHL’s freight forwarding division said in a statement here.
The first of its kind security contract in the country will help create a safer environment for DHL and Air India-SATS’ employees who handle high-value and high-risk products. It is also beneficial for firms shipping sensitive goods.
‘To ensure fool-proof security in the supply chain, it is imperative for all concerned to promote collaboration, open communication and best practices,’ DHL Lemuir Logistics chief executive Christoph Remund said in the statement.
The exercise involves stringent internal and external security procedures as an integral part of a supply chain for high-value shipments.
‘The partnership will enable us to improve product delivery to our customers,’ Air India-SATS airport services vice-president (cargo) TjunKyet Kwa said.
