FA in soup over flying England stars in economy class

London, Nov 13(ANI): The Football Association (FA) is facing a backlash for flying England stars on an economy jet to Doha, where they will play a friendly against Brazil.

Several players complained of cramp and muscle pain after the Three Lions team was forced to spend the long-haul flight to Doha on a charter plane designed for the short-haul only, The Sun reports.

The players, who are used to having flat beds for long journeys, said they were shocked to find seats that barely reclined.

The FA decision to book a cheap charter, which cost them 900,000-pounds, backfired on them.

According to reports, Chelsea is furious after Frank Lampard complained of a thigh injury, which it says was iaggravated by the cramped journey.

The Blues will reportedly claim Lampard’s 151,000pounds-a-week wages as compensation from the FA, if he is ruled out for two months.

During the period, Chelsea is scheduled to play crucial Premier League games against Arsenal, Manchester City, Wolves and Everton plus Champions League clashes with Porto and Apoel Nicosia. (ANI)
