Lakhvi, six others charged for Mumbai attack
Islamabad, Nov 25 (IANS) A Pakistani court Wednesday finally charged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and six others for last year’s Mumbai terror attack that left 166 people dead.
Lakhvi and the others were charged under Pakistan’s anti-terrorism act and criminal code, BBC reported. Their lawyers said all seven have pleaded not guilty.
After initially denying that any Pakistani was involved in the slaughter of people in Mumbai a year ago, Islamabad started a crackdown in December.
Pakistan eventually announced in February that it had identified seven planners and facilitators of the Mumbai carnage and arrested five of them, including Lakhvi.
