Maoist movement inspiring a Bollywood film
Panaji, Nov 29 (ANI): Maoist violence might be a cause of worry to the Government, but a story based on a rebel has made it to the silver screen.
‘Red Alert- The War Within’, made by Bollywood director, Anant Mahadevan has been inspired by a newspaper report about a farmer who got inadvertently trapped by the Maoists.
“More than the issue, it was the story of that man that moved me deeply…Because that man had gone through such an experience which a normal man might not be able to face…To live with the Maoists, to leave them, the risk that it poses to the life, the questions that are raised after that… It was the story of a man so more than the issue I found the story fascinating. That’s why I made this film,” Mahadevan said.
Actor Suniel Shetty who plays the protagonist, said the film did not take any sides, and added that it was just the director’s view of the trials faced by the man.
“It is a very sensitive subject, based on the Maoist movement. But the message has been treated beautifully. It is neither pro-Maoist, nor pro-government. We are telling our thoughts and the director’s vision through it,” said Shetty.
The cast of the film includes, Naseeruddin Shah, Ayesha Dharker, Seema Biswas, Sameera Reddy and Ashish Vidyarthi. (ANI)
