Music costs Brit police £800k a year!
London, November 29 (ANI): Police in Britain spend around 800,000 pounds a year on music rights for cops’ enjoyment.
The payment is made to organizations which pass on the royalty payments to musicians and songwriters.
The expenditure on the “iPlod” licences has apparently increased 85-fold in recent years.
However, the splurge has come under fire from critics as a waste of money.
The amount is apparently equivalent to the salaries of 35 junior constables.
“Police forces around the country are paying far too much for recreational radio use,” the Telegraph quoted Matthew Elliott, chief executive at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, as saying.
He added: “This does represent a large waste of precious resources that could be allocated to improving front line policing.” (ANI)
