Now a mobile that drives away mosquitoes

New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS) You don’t need to carry mosquito repelling coils and creams to vacations anymore, your mobile handset can shoo the mosquitoes away.

Micromax Informatics Limited (Micromax), a mobile handset manufacturer, launched a new phone with a mosquito repellent feature, in association with popular youth channel MTV.

‘At Micromax, we try and add features to a mobile phone so that it helps the user in day-to-day forms. This phone – Micromax MTV X360 – has a feature whereby a specific sound at a certain hertz is played and it helps in shooing away mosquitoes in immediate surroundings,’ Rahul Sharma, executive director of Micromax, told reporters.

The phone is part of a licensing deal between Micromax and MTV. As part of the deal, the former will launch a range of co-branded mobile handsets in the market.

The first to hit the market in the first quarter of 2010 will be Micromax MTV X360, a music-oriented handset, priced at Rs.4,999.

The handset is powered by 3D surround sound and has other features such as 8 GB expandable memory, dual SIM facility, 1.3 mega pixel camera, et al.

It also comes with preloaded content from MTV featuring videos, ringtones, wallpapers from hit shows like ‘Bakra’, ‘Semi Girebal’ and ‘Roadies’.
