Pak Army brigadier, driver injured in Islamabad shoot-out

Islamabad, Nov.6 (ANI): A Pakistan Army brigadier and his driver were injured when unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets on the car in which they were travelling in Islamabad on Friday morning.

According to reports, Brigadier Sohail came under attack near his residence when armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on his car.

“Unknown attackers were waiting for Brigadier Sohail to leave his house and opened fire at his vehicle as soon as it entered the main road,” The Dawn quoted an eyewitness, as saying.

Both Sohail and his driver sustained bullet injuries and have been admitted to a local hospital, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahir Malik said.

“We have collected a pistol from the site of the attack and are looking for further evidence,” Malik added.

This was the second such attack on a top Army official in Islamabad in less than a month.

In October, a top Pakistan Army official along with another army man were shot down in the capital.

The Deputy Director General Military Operations Brigadier Moin was killed along with another official when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the military jeep in which they were travelling.

According to sources, one army official was also injured in the attack.

Brigadier Moin is believed to have been involved in the strategy making for the on-going offensive in South Waziristan as well as the Swat operation. (ANI)
