Robbers loot electronic goods worth Rs.30 lakh
Chandigarh, Nov 25 (IANS) Robbers broke into two computer shops here and looted goods worth nearly Rs.30 lakh, police said here Wednesday.
‘Robbers broke the locks of the shutter and gained entry through the passage stairs. Then they made holes in the glass doors, using a drilling machine, to open their latches. It seems to be a handiwork of some high-tech gang active in this region for the last few months,’ said a police official.
According to police, the burglars looted electronic goods from the shops, situated on the first floor of a showroom in Sector 20 market here, in the wee hours of Wednesday.
‘A rickshaw-puller saw three to four men, around 6 a.m., loading goods into a car. We are also taking his help in ascertaining the identity of the accused,’ the official said.
Rajesh Sharma, one of the shop-owners, said: ‘They took away 20 laptops and 25 LCD screens from the two shops. Our combined loss is around Rs.30 lakh.’
