UAE, Britain to hold trade talks in London
Abu Dhabi, Oct 15 (IANS) Officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Britain will meet in London Oct 19-20 for talks to boost bilateral trade, WAM news agency reported Thursday.
The officials will deliberate on a new mechanism that will open up new investment opportunities and increase trade exchanges.
Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri will lead the UAE delegation.
Trade between the UAE and Britain was worth 30 billion UAE dirhams (about $8 billion) in 2008.
The value of British exports to the UAE was about $6 billion, while the UAE exports to Britain were valued at $511 million in 2008.
In 2008, British investors conducted transactions worth about $3 billion in the UAE stock markets, accounting for 50 percent of the total transactions carried out by foreign investors.
